The company just secured a $20.5 million contract for one-way attack drones, marking its third major publicly disclosed award of this type in recent months. This follows a $41 million order in August and an $18.5 million U.S. Air Force production deal back in May. Together, these awards push the company's visible 2026 loitering munition intake past the $80 million mark.

The Pivot to Attritable Armor

The Disruptor is a Group 3 tactical drone spanning nearly five meters. It launches from a pneumatic catapult, carries a fifty-pound warhead, and can fly hundreds of kilometers on a single mission. Analysts estimate AEVEX now captures nearly a fifth of the total U.S. spending market on loitering munitions, trailing only a handful of prime defense contractors.

Back in July 2024, Beijing imposed formal sanctions on AEVEX due to its ongoing defense hardware sales to Taiwan. It's a clear indicator that the small drone market sits squarely at the center of great-power competition. As the U.S. military transitions away from multi-million-dollar hardware toward scalable, low-cost mass, companies capable of delivering thousands of autonomous systems quickly will dictate the future pace of defense procurement.
